5 Reasons I think your content is not working.

I am going to keep this short and sweet but I would love to go into it more with you. So please contact me if you want to talk about it more.

For the purpose of this article, lets just call any content, photos, designs, videos, etc “images”.

While we are at it, since I focus on brand story telling lets define that…

Brand storytelling is using a narrative to connect your brand to customers, with a focus on linking what you stand for to the values you share with your customers.

Okay, so the reasons I think a lot of your images are not working for you.

1. Authenticity - Stock footage and images have their place but you really should be using “your” images every time you can. It is a lot more affordable and convenient than most people believe to get authentic images.

2. Consistency - If you are not regularly connecting with your customers or more importantly your potential customers you will lose their attention. It is very rare to just happen to get your image in front of a customer exactly when they need you. In marketing, "top-of-mind awareness" refers to a brand or specific product being first in customers' minds when thinking of a particular industry or category. Consistency is a key factor in developing top of mind awareness with customers.

You can also use a Creative Agency to help you develop a plan to get your service in front of the right people at the right time.

3. Relevancy - Relevant is define as - Closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered. Appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstances; of contemporary interest. If your images are repetitive, boring, out dated, off topic, etc, you will not be seen as relevant or in other words… appropriate to customers.

4. Professionalism - Don’t get me wrong, as a professional multimedia creator I am almost annoyed at how good smart phones have gotten and there is certainly a time and place for using smart phone content. Even with all my professional kit, I often do, but if you want to take your business to the next level you are going to have to take your images to the next level.

5. You’re too busy making yourself another hero - The hard truth is most people do not want to hear how great you are. They want to know how you can help them or what problem you can solve. They want to know how you can make them a hero. So stop telling them your story about how you storm the castle or saved the world and start telling them how you can help them do that. Tell them the Yoda story, not the Skywalker one.
