The I Don't Know Loop.

Funny what you remember from your childhood (and what you don't). There was this cartoon, I think it was a Warner Brother's cartoon, with two below average intelligence buzzards sitting on a limb. One ask the other what he wants to do? He shrugs and says, "I don't know, what do you wanna do?" In response the other shrugs and says, "I don't know, what do you wanna do?" And there they sit going back and forth.

For the records I love my groups, I do, but they can be frustratingly notorious for getting caught in the I don't know loop.

Now bear in mind one of my groups has the same routine everyday. At some point someone is going to have to go to lunch at 11:30 and then they rotate through. On several occasion I have become memorized by the development of the I don't know loop or, in this case, more accurately the "I don't care" variation. Inevitably someone will ask someone else, when do you want to go to lunch? Someone will answer, I don't care... whenever is fine. They will ask the question back and sure enough the other person will answer in kind and amazingly the loop starts.

Today I asked another of my groups if they all wanted to get together and meet or try to meet via email. All of the group, all, responded with... "I am fine with whatever the group decides" All of the group did not decide but all of the group answered with "whatever the group decides"...

I have opinions on why I think people do this but I will not get into that in this blog but what I will do is ask you to challenge yourself and other around you as to why we get these loops started? Why do we not have opinions or why are we afraid to express our opinions or why at least (for the love of God) don't we be the ones to break the loop.

I continue to passionatly believe in my favorite hashtags #beyou #bebold #beseen #takecharge #takechances #liveoutloud #livewithpurpose #liveonpurpose
